PROCEDURE
1. Follow steps 1 through 5 under

2. With control knob pressed in, strike match.
Hold match to pilot until pilot lights.
3. Keep control knob pressed in for 30 sec-
onds after lighting pilot. After 30 seconds,
release control knob. Now follow step 8
under
Lighting Instructions
, column 2.
OPERATING OPTIONAL
BLOWER
This blower has three settings: ON, OFF and
AUTO. In the ON position, the blower will oper-
ate constantly. In the OFF position, the blower
will not operate. In the AUTO position, the
blower will start when the thermostat senses
a suffi cient increase in fi rebox temperature.

D. Do not use this appliance if any part
has been under water. Immediately call
a qualifi ed service technician to inspect
the appliance and to replace any part of
the control system and any gas control
which has been under water.
LIGHTING
INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: You must operate
this fi replace with the screen
in place. Make sure fi replace
screen is installed before run-
ning fi replace.
NOTICE: During initial operation
of new fi replace, burning logs
will give off a paper-burning
smell. Open window to vent
smell. Operate fi replace on HI
position to burn off odor. This
will only last a few hours.
WARNING: Burner will come
on automatically within one min-
ute when control valve is in the
ON position after the pilot is lit.
NOTE: Your fi replace and thermostat blower
will not turn on and off at the same time.
The fi replace may run for several minutes
before the blower turns on. After the heater
modulates to the pilot position, the blower will
continue to run. The blower will shut off after
the fi rebox temperature decreases.
NOTE: It is safe to operate fi replace with
blower turned off. However, the blower helps
distribute heated air from the fi replace.

A. This appliance has a pilot which must
be lighted by hand. When lighting the
pilot, follow these instructions exactly.
B. BEFORE LIGHTING smell all around the ap-
pliance area for gas. Be sure to smell next
to the fl oor because some gas is heavier
than air and will settle on the fl oor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electric switch; do
not use any phone in your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier
from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the
gas supplier’s instructions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier,
call the fi re department.
C. Use only your hand to push in or turn the
gas control knob. Never use tools. If the
knob will not push in or turn by hand, don’t
try to repair it, call a qualifi ed service tech-
nician or gas supplier. Force or attempted
repair may result in a fi re or explosion.
