4 Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning and care in outpatient and
inpatient care
4.1.1 General information
Health risks associated with handling
infectious agents or pathogens
Infectious agents and pathogens in
the aspirate cause health risks.
• Never operate the device without an
external bacterial filter.
(exception: ASSKEA disposable se-
cretion canister system)
• Replace the external bacterial filter
prior to each new patient or at least
every two weeks when used exclu-
sively for one patient, if it is used
frequently!
(exception: ASSKEA disposable se-
cretion canister system)
• Reuse of bacterial filters for multiple
patients is prohibited for hygiene
and safety reasons!
• Wear appropriate disposable gloves
when replacing components that
have come into contact with the as-
pirate.
• Replace the disposable liner ‘One-
Way‘ and suction tube in accordance
with the respectively applicable hy-
giene instructions, no less than once
per week, prior to each new patient
or if it is full.
• For each new patient, profession-
al hygienic processing by ASSKEA
GmbH or an authorized service
partner of ASSKEA GmbH is strictly
required! Follow the information in
section 4.3.
• After each aspiration procedure all
components that have come into
contact with the aspirate must be
cleaned, disinfected or disposed of.
• Disposal of aspirate and contaminat-
ed components must be performed
in a proper manner.
Health risks associated with handling
disinfectants

Use of appropriate protective
clothing during disinfection is re-
commended.
• Follow the instructions of the manu-
facturer of the disinfectant.
Possible bodily injury due to electric
shock
• Switch off the device prior to clean-
ing/disinfection.
• Disconnect the power supply unit
resp. the mains cable by unplugging
it from the mains supply. Then dis-
connect the power supply unit or
the mains cable from the socket for
power supply of the ASSKEA secre-
tion aspirator M- and S-series.
Damage to the device due to impro-
per cleaning agents
• Do not use disinfectants that contain
acetone. These may damage or dis-
figure the housing components and
the accessories.
• Follow the instructions for use pro-
vided by the manufacturers of the
disinfectants you use, particularly
with respect to material and surface
compatibility as well as the concen-
tration information.
• ASSKEA GmbH recommends ‘Sek-
usept
®
aktiv‘ for immersion disinfec-
tion of the accessories and ‘Incidin
®
Plus‘ or ‘Incidin
®
Liquid‘ for wipe dis-
infection of the device.
4.1.2 Cleaning and disinfecting the
surface of the device
Clean the surfaces of the device re-
gularly and disinfect them daily. All devices
can be wiped with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Follow the previous section 4.1.1 for wipe
disinfection.
