GageMux® USB

The FlashCable

gage interface output can be directly connected to the

GageMux

USB. When the FlashCable® is connected to the GageMux

USB, the LED on the FlashCable® turns GREEN, this indicates that the
FlashCable

is connected properly and the LED briefly turns RED when

the data is being sent or a data request is triggered.

The data transfer can be triggered using any of the following methods:

Using the data send button on the device or on the cable
connecting the gage and the FlashCable

Using a Footswitch on the FlashCable

Using the Footswitch port on the GageMux

USB (or equivalent

triggering method)

The FlashCable

does not obtain any power from the gage. When

connected to the GageMux

USB, the pin 9 of the 10-pin input port

provides the power to the FlashCable

When the FlashCable

is shipped, the FlashCable

description, calibration

date, model number and serial number are stored in the EEPROM of the
FlashCable

. These are the factory settings; please do not change them.

The FlashCable

is configured with the default communication parameters

of the gage or RS232 device. These communication parameters are seen on
the configuration sheet provided with the FlashCable

. For a FlashCable®

using the RS-232 signals, the communication parameters can be re-
configured using the GageMux

USB FlashCable

utility.

Follow the instructions in this guide to:



Install and configure the FlashCable

to communicate with the

desired RS-232 Device



Connect the FlashCable

interface to a device



Enter gage related information onto the memory of the
FlashCable

NOTE

—In order to configure the Advanced Systems & Designs

FlashCable

, a GageMux® USB (2, 4 or 8 port) with firmware version

3.0 or later must be used along with the FlashCable

configuration

program.
