System Power
The Ascom Telligence system power begins at the facility's Mains power circuit. Next is an
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The UPS provides emergency power to a load when
the input power source or Mains power fails. The UPS must be placed between the Mains
power circuit and all the sources of Telligence powering equipment. These sources include
one or more of the following devices.
• PoE switch providing power for Telligence IP devices.
• Gateway II (NGGTWY2) providing 36VDC power to NUDL-series dome lights and
Passive Bus Concentrator (NUPBC) hallway devices. An NUDL-series dome light powers
active room modules connected to its two room buses. The NUPBC hallway device
powers passive room devices connected to any one of the eight NUPBC ports.
• An optional 24VDC power supply is needed when connecting legacy passive
teleCARE M room modules to the NUPBC.
Notes:
• Installations requiring compliance to ANSI/UL 1069 shall only use PoE switches that are
E23929 listed.
• The optional 24VDC power supply and teleCARE M devices shall not be used in
installations requiring compliance to ANSI/UL 1069.
• Installations requiring compliance to VDE 0834 shall be connected to the facility Mains
power circuit in accordance with the instructions and requirements that follow.
