The amplifier or VCA

The  amplifier  (Voltage  Controlled  Amplifier)  is  charged  with  receiving  the
audio signal coming from the filter (or directly the one from the oscillator if it is
not  filtered)  to  adjust  its  volume  with  a  potentiometer,  before  the  signal  is
directed to the speakers.
