Functional Description

SharpSwitch™ PCIE-9205 Installation and Use (6806800U18D

)

64

Single and dual rank Dual In-line Memory Modules (DIMMs), unbuffered with Error Correcting
Code (ECC) are supported. Both DIMMs on a channel must be populated identically (frequency,
capacity, rank, chip width, and density).

If only one SO-DIMM need be assembled per channel per processor, the bottom SO-DIMM slot
should be equipped first.

4.3

PCIe Connectivity

The PCIE-9205 connects into the MaxCore MC3000 platform through:



Two (2) PCIe x4 Gen3 interfaces of the FM10840 device, if operated in a MaxCore x8 slot.



Four (4) PCIe x4 Gen3 interfaces of the FM10840 device, if operated in a MaxCore x16 slot.

In the fabric mode, the selected Management CPU (mCPU) in slot 1 or slot 15 connects into the
MaxCore MC3000 platform through one PCIe x1 Gen2 interface.

4.4

Ethernet

The processor on the PCIE-9205 may connect to an optional Ethernet Switch within the
MaxCore system through a one Gigabit Ethernet interface (Port0 and Port1). These
connections are through the Xeon Processor D’s integrated KR PHY and are configured for
1000BASE-KX mode (1Gbps, 1lane).

The FM10840 has two 100G Ethernet Interfaces (P0 and P1) to the QSFP28 connectors on the
faceplate. If there are PCIE-9205 cards installed in slot1 and slot15 of the MC3000 system an
Ethernet interface (P2) of the FM10840 is used to connect both cards directly through a
1000BASE-KX mode (1Gbps, 1lane) connection.

4.5

SATA

For PCIE-9205 cards operated in MaxCore’s slot 1 and slot 15, the CPU has four SATA3 ports
connecting to the Hard Disk Drives installed in MC3000 IO Panel.

Artesyn’s System Services Framework (SSF) for MaxCore allows configuring the assignment of
these HDDs to the respective CPU ports.
