1.6 Extreme Edge Server Base Board
Up to two Broadwell-DE processors are provided on the Extreme Edge Server base board. The
Broadwell-DE is a System on Chip (SoC) product manufactured in a BGA package and
integrates up to 16 cores, a memory controller, I/O block, and PCH logic. The following figure
is a high level block diagram of the Broadwell-DE SoC.
The base board includes two nearly identical Broadwell-DE processor blocks. Note that the
features listed in the following chapters apply to both processors unless otherwise noted. The
minor differences between the two processors blocks are highlighted using keyword CPU1 for
the first processor and CPU2 for the second processor.
