Mechanical brake release monitoring
Self-monitoring function of the correct operation of the machine brake as a part of protection against
unintended car movement (UCM) fulfils EN 81-1+A3. The type-examination certificate number is
NL12-400-1002-048-10 rev. 1. Refer to “ADrive A3 Test Instructions” for further information.
Note: Self-monitoring of the machine brake compliant to +A3 is only available for firmware
version >= V8.81. For older versions, a firmware update must be performed.
The self-monitoring of the brakes is carried out by checking that each single brake drops at every
run, preventing the next normal start of the lift if dropping fails. After detection maximum three
times a brake malfunction within a certain operation frame, the lift is kept out of service, even if
the main power is switched off and on again. This error is only reset by clearing the fault list by
using the parameter “5.2-Clear Fault List”.
The status of the microswitches (generally two) mounted on each brake is controlled by means of
one digital input. The micro-switches must be normally close (N.C.) and must be connected in
serial. When brakes are closed, this input must be ON. The microswitches of the brakes can be
connected either to input PI1 on ENCABIT-Plus module or programmable input PIN on ADrive
●
To activate the self-monitoring function of the brakes, parameter “11.6-Brake mon.” must be
enabled. This parameter is set to “Disabled” in factory settings. It shall be enabled only after wiring
the brakes and microswithes. Otherwise ADrive continuously gives error and blocks the lift.
13.2.5.1.
Connection to input PI1 on ENCABIT-Plus module
This connection may be used for gearless machines when ENCABIT-Plus module is mounted on
ADrive.
13.2.5.2.
Connection to programmable input PIN on ADrive
This connection may be used for geared machines with traction sheave or shaft brake when
ENCABIT-Plus module is not mounted on ADrive.
●
PIN is a programmable input. In order to assign the brake self-monitoring function to this input,
parameter “11.4-PIN Func.” must be set to “Brake mon. input”.
