The DD490 series detector is a microwave verified PIR and should be installed
to maximize PIR detection. The best detection is therefore obtained with the
expected movement of an intruder perpendicular and/or diagonal to the
mounting location.

SITING THE DETECTOR
The dual technology processing of this detector resistants false alarm hazards.
Nevertheless avoid potential causes of instability such as:

PIR risks:
-

Direct sunlight on the detector.

-

Heat sources within a field of view.

-

Strong draughts onto the detector.

-

Large animals in a field of view.

Microwave risks:
-

Mounting on a surface susceptible to vibrations.

-

Metal surfaces that reflect microwave energy.

-

Water movement through plastic pipes.

-

Heating or air-conditioning fans pointed directly at the detector.

WALK TEST LED FUNCTIONS
To walk test the DD495/DD496  make sure jumper J3 is in the ON position or
the LED is enabled remotely.
In the DD497/DD498 the LED must be enabled by applying a "CV" signal to
terminal 10.

Select the required function of the LED at jumper J1.
DUAL

= Detector Alarm.

The LED lights when the detector is in
alarm.
Relay follows LED.

MICROWAVE =  Microwave  Alarm. The LED lights when the microwave chan-

nel is in alarm.
Relay is always in alarm.

PIR

= PIR alarm.

The LED lights when the signal in the PIR
channel exceeds the alarm level.
Relay is always in alarm.

Use "MICROWAVE " and "PIR" when required to locate the coverage patterns
of the individual technologies.

RANGE ADJUSTMENT
Programme the range at jumper J4.
20 m = maximum range up to 20 m.
12 m = medium

range up to 12 m.

  7 m = minimum range up to   7 m.

Always select the lowest range setting possible for the dimensions of the
protected area.
1) Select PIR channel on jumper J1.

Verify PIR coverage and adjust if required.

2) Select MICROWAVE channel on jumper J1.

Verify MICROWAVE coverage and adjust if required.

3) Select DUAL processing on jumper J1 and verify unit detection.

LED JUMPER AND REMOTE CONTROL OF LED (Fig. 3).
(DD495/DD496).
Move jumper J3 to position OFF/REMOTE. The LED is now disabled. It may be
enabled by moving the jumper J3 to the ON position or remotely by applying a
0 V potential to terminal 8.

ALARM MEMORY (Fig. 3b & 4)
(DD497/DD498)
Note: First set the Control Voltage ("CV")  by jumper J2.

Connect "CV" to terminal 9 when the system is armed. When system is
disarmed, disconnect the "CV". If an alarm has occured during the armed
period, the detector or detectors which gave the alarm are indicated by a
flashing LED. Re-applying the "CV" (re-arming the system) will reset LED
indication and memory.

REMOTE ENABLE/DISABLE OF WALK TEST LED
To walk test the detector, the "CV" to terminal 9 (latch) must be disconnected.
Connect "CV" to terminal 10. The detector’s LED will now light and go out again
as the alarm relay opens and closes, making possible walk testing.

Note 1: Enabling the walk test will not clear alarm memory. After disarming the
system after an alarm, you may switch to walk test. When you switch back out
of walk test, the indication of memorized alarms will re-appear. Only when "CV"
is re-applied to terminal 9 (ie. system is re-armed) will LEDs and memory be
cleared.

Note 2: To enable the walk test LED without a remote "CV" input, connect a link
between terminal 2 and 10, J2 = "+".

MICROWAVE DISABLE
The DD497/DD498
have the additional feature that whenever the

system is disarmed with the walk test off, the microwave transmitter will be
switched off. The detector will then operate as a PIR only. In all other con-
figurations the unit operates in dual technology mode.

SELECTING THE COVERAGE PATTERNS (Fig. 5-10)
Mask the appropriate mirror curtains with the adhesive labels provided and
reassemble the sensor module.

For example:
See Fig. 5 for mirror curtain coverage pattern corresponding to curtain 3A & 3B,
6A and 7B masked.

Removing label(s) can damage the mirrorsurface!

The coverage pattern can be changed to fit specific requirements using the
mirror masks as shown (Fig. 6-10). Mask off unused curtains which might
otherwise be looking at walls or windows very close to the detector.

WINDOW MASK (Fig. 11)
In the presence of objects close to (within 1.5 m) and directly under the detector,
fit the mask to the inside of the window.
This disables the part of the curtains looking at the object, whose closeness
might otherwise destabilize the detector.
