8.3.3.5 High Voltage Alarm (HVA)
1. Enter the Test mode by turning on the Test switch.
2. With the system powered up, rotate the HVA potentiometer on the supervisory module
clockwise to its maximum setting.
3. Attach a DVM to the voltage test jacks and monitor the test supply voltage. Adjust the Test
potentiometer to the desired HVA trip level.
4. Turn the HVA potentiometer counterclockwise until the HVA LED illuminates. Turn the Test
potentiometer counterclockwise until the alarm clears. Return the unit from Test mode to the
Normal mode by turning the Test switch off.
5. To confirm the new HVA setting, place the unit in the Test mode. Attach a DVM and increase
the Test supply voltage potentiometer and monitor the point at which the alarm trips. Reduce
the test supply voltage and monitor the point at which the alarm clears.
6. If setting is correct, return the unit to Normal mode.
NOTE: HVA should be set >1V than the float voltage (min.).
8.3.3.6 Temperature Probe (Sensor) Check
To verify the correct operation of the Temperature Probes (Sensors), measure the voltage
between the sensor positive (+) and sensor negative (-) with a digital voltmeter. Refer to the
formula below to calculate the actual temperature measured by the sensor. Next, confirm that
the sensor voltage reading corresponds approximately to the ambient battery temperature as
measured by a hand-held thermometer.
Formula for Converting Sensor Voltage to Temperature:
Sensor Temperature in °C = (Sensor voltage - 2.73V) x 100°C/Volt
Sensor Temperature in °F = (Sensor voltage - 2.73V) x 180°F/Volt + 32°F
e.g. (2.98V - 2.73V) x 100°C/Volt = 25°C
(2.98V - 2.73V) x 180°F/Volt = 77°F
