 › Unscrew the grommet nut (5) of the cable grommet with the wrench a = 24,  

  remove and check the grommet seal (2) for damage. 

 › Thread the cable through the removed grommet parts (2, 3, 5) and the  

  grommet in the terminal lid(1).

7.2.1  Electrical connection of coils

 › Remove the insulation from the end of the cable so that when the cable is fixed in the grommet, the insulated part of the cable extends  

 

  sufficiently into the inner space of the terminal block.

 › Strip a 5 mm length of the ends of the power supply wires and equip the ground wire with an M3 - 0.75 mm

  ambient temperatures of +125 °C (+257 °F) and above.

 › Secure the coil power wires with a maximum cross-section of 2 mm

 to the terminal box using a 3 mm wide crewdriver. Tighten the    

 

  screws to 0.4 Nm (0.30 lbf.ft).

 › Thread the cable lug of the ground wire under the head of the ground screw, located next to the terminal block, and screw in and tighten  

 

  the ground screw M3 with an inbus wrench a= 2.5 mm to a torque of 1.2 + 0.2 Nm.

 › Make sure that the wires are properly connected and not in danger of  

  coming loose.

 › Check the lid seal for damage and fit the lid onto the coil body. Tighten  

  the lid using four M4x35 DIN 912 screws and torque to 4 + 0.5    

  Nm (3.0 + 0.4 lbf.ft) using an inbus wrench s = 3. 

 › Assemble the cable gland as shown. Tighten the cable gland nut (5) with  

  the key a = 24 so that the cable is held firmly in the gland.  

 

  The tightening torque of the nut depends on the cable diameter. 

 › After mounting the valve, it is necessary to ground the coil surface by connecting the ground wire to the terminal on the surface of the    

  terminal cover using an M5x10 screw. Tighten the screw using an 8 mm screwdriver.  

Coils with AC power supply and rectifier are supplied with only the cable connected. Also, DC powered coils can be supplied by the manufacturer 
with the cable attached upon request. If the directional control valve coils do not have a power cable connected, proceed as follows:

 › A 6 to 8 mm outer diameter cable must be used to connect the coils to the power supply. If using a different type of grommet, follow the  

 

  grommet manufacturer‘s recommendations when selecting the cable diameter.

 › Use a cable with sufficient insulation temperature class. For coil temperature class T4 this must be a cable with a minimum insulation temperature  

  resistance of +105 °C (+221 °F), for temperature classes T5 and T6 a cable with a temperature resistance of +90 °C (+194 °F). Furthermore, the    
  cable should be sufficiently protected against damage with respect to environmental conditions, e.g. resistant to mechanical damage or to the    
  effect of chemicals. 

 › Using an inbus wrench s=3, loosen the four M4x35 DIN 912 terminal cover screws. Carefully remove the cover . Do not damage the cover seal    

  (O-ring 45x2).

Correct electrical connection of coils

Make sure that the wires are properly attached to the terminal block and to the grounding screw. 
Ensure that the terminal box cover and the cable in the grommet are properly fastened and sealed. 
There is a risk of explosion.

Coil surface grounding 

If the surface of the coil and thus the entire valve is not grounded, an electrical discharge of static electricity 
may occur.
