Riding uphill
Roughly 20 % of accidents happen
while riding on hills as a result of in-
correct behaviour. So, use extreme
caution and follow this method for
riding uphill:
1. Shift down and accelerate
before you start climbing. Then
maintain a steady pace.
2. Lean as far forward as possible.
For steeper hills come off your seat
to stand and lean forward.
3. If you lose speed, quickly shift to
a lower gear. At the same time, re-
lease the throttle so your front tires
don’t lift OR
4. If that doesn’t work and the ter-
rain permits, do a U-turn, go back
down and try climbing again, OR
5. If you have lost all forward moti-
on, follow the K-turn procedure.
!! WARNING !!
Never climb hills with an angle of
gradient higher than 25 %.
