1 GENERAL INFORMATION
**NOTE: Please refer to both the diesel engine and the pump
manuals for all maintenance procedures and schedules**
1.1 RBS
TRITON™ SKIMMERS
The Aqua-Guard RBS
TRITON™ Skimmer is designed to quickly and efficiently pick up
oil.
The oleophilic Brush, Drum or Disc system operates on the principle that polyethylene
brushes have the ability to adsorb oil and reject water. The RBS
TRITON™ Skimmer
typically skims at very high oil/water ratios. The brush can recover 98% oil with only 2%
water, whereas weir skimmers typically pick-up 10% oil and 90% water.

TRITON™ skimmer is unique with its ability to use a brush, drum or discs. This
versatility allows the RBS
TRITON™ skimmer to be even more effective in a greater
range of oil types.
1.2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.2.1 Basic Components Of The RBS

The skimmer is comprised of three major components; the skimmer head, power unit and
pump. One hydraulic hose set is required and suction/discharge hoses that runs from the
skimmer head to the pump and from the pump to a recovered oil storage unit.

RBS TRITON™ Skimmer Head
The RBS
TRITON™ Skimmer Head is of modular construction. It is comprised of
modules, having Brush, Drum (optional) or Disc (optional) inserts. The brushes/drums or
discs are mounted in aluminum frames, and each is powered by its own Hydraulic motor
fitted with quick connect plugs for ease of assembly.
The recovered oil is scraped from the surfaces of each brush by UHMW scrapers. The
drum and disc surface is cleaned by a polyethylene scraper.
