If necessary, proceed as follows:

Remove the battery, see page 96
(REMOVING THE BATTERY).
u
Brush the cable terminals (2) and the
battery terminals (3) with a wire brush, in
order to eliminate any trace of corrosion.
u
Install the battery, see page 98
(INSTALLING THE BATTERY).
REMOVING THE BATTERY
CAUTION
When the battery is removed, the digital
clock and red line setting will be reset to
zero. To re-set these functions, see
p a g e 1 6 ( M U L T I F U N C T I O N
COMPUTER).
Carefully read page 95 (BATTERY).

Make sure that the ignition switch is in
position "
".
u
Remove the rider seat, see page 77
(REMOVING THE RIDER SEAT).
u
Release and remove the negative (-)
terminal screw (1).
u
Slide the negative lead (2) aside.
u
Lift the red protective cap (3).
u
Release and remove the positive (
+
)
terminal screw (4).
u
Move aside the positive cable (5).
u
Release and remove the two screws (6).
u
Remove the battery retaining bracket (7).
u
Grasp the battery (8) firmly and lift it out
of its mount.
WARNING
Once it has been removed, the battery
must be stored in a safe place and kept
away from children.
u
Position the battery on a flat surface, in a
cool and dry place.
u
Refit the rider seat, see page 77
(REMOVING THE RIDER SEAT).
