ADJUSTING THE CLUTCH

Adjust  the  clutch  after  the  first  1000  km
(625 mi) and successively every 6000 km
(3750 mi)  and when  the engine  stops  or
the  vehicle  (with  pulled  clutch  lever  and
gears on) tends to move forward, or if the
clutch slips, causing a delay in the acceler-
ation with respect to the engine rpm.

For the adjustment, proceed as follows:

◆

Position the vehicle on the stand, see p.
52 (POSITIONING THE VEHICLE ON
THE STAND).

◆

Withdraw the protection element (1).

◆

Loosen the lock nut (2).

◆

Rotate the adjuster (3), until the idle
stroke of the clutch lever is about

.

◆

Tighten the lock nut (2) and check the
adjustment again.

◆

Start the engine, see p. 44 (STARTING).

◆

Pull the clutch control lever completely
and engage the 1st gear.

Make sure that the engine does not stop,
that the vehicle does not tend to move for-
ward, or that the clutch does not slip during
the acceleration phase or while the vehicle
is running.
