Inspection frequency will vary from hourly to weekly, based on the
needs of the situation, and should always be conducted at regular
intervals.
To provide reasonable assurance that the ANSUL system is fully
charged and operable:
1. Note general appearance of the system and component parts,
checking for mechanical damage or corrosion.
NOTICE
On indicator fill cap models, check the red
indicator stem. If it is in the UP position, a
complete maintenance examination must
be performed.
2. Check all nameplates for readability.
3. Read nitrogen cylinder gauge to make certain that pointer is in
the BLACK operating range and that visual inspection seals
on valve are intact.
4. Check dry chemical tank by completing the following steps:
Be careful when removing fill cap(s) as tank(s) may be pres-
surized.
• If fill cap has a red indicator stem in the up position, pres-
sure must be relieved from tank.
• If fill cap vent starts relieving pressure while opening the fill
cap, stop and let all pressure vent before removing cap.
• If fill cap is difficult to remove, pressure must be relieved
from tank.
Refer to page 4, steps 1 - 5 to confirm tank pressure is
released. Attempting to remove fill cap when tank has pres-
sure could result in personal injury or damage to property.
a. Remove fill cap from tank.
b. Check that tank is filled with free-flowing ANSUL dry chem-
ical to a level of not more than 6 in. (152 mm) from the bot-
tom of the fill opening.
c. Secure fill cap and hand tighten.
5. Check AFFF solution tank by completing the following steps:

released. Attempting to remove fill cap when tank has pres-
sure could result in personal injury or damage to property.
a. Remove fill cap from tank.
b. Check that solution level is about 3 inches (76 mm) from
bottom of the fill opening.
c. Secure fill cap and hand tighten.

and sealed in the operating position:
BLUE Hose Clean-Out Valve. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Closed
BLACK Dry Chemical Valve. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Open

and sealed in the operating position:
BLUE Hose Clean-Out Valve. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Closed
BLACK AFFF Valve . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Open
9. Replace any broken or missing visual inspection seals (Part
