Wiring and Device Connections  

The LAN port gets its IP address(es) in one or more of the following ways: 

IPv4

Static assignment by the user

Dynamic assignment by an IPv4 DHCP server

Link local as a fall back when configured for DHCP but unable to successfully obtain an address
