7.3 Check the wa ter trap
Check the wa ter trap on its wa ter content every day, when the
engine oil le vel is checked. The water which has col lec ted is
separated at a clearly visible line from the die sel fuel abo ve it.
•
Check the wind ow (1) for wa ter con tent.
Col lec ted wa ter can be cle ar ly iden ti fied by the no ti ce ab le se -
pa ra ting line bet ween the wa ter and the die sel fuel abo ve it.
•
Place a suitable container under the drain screw (2).
NOTE: In inac ces si ble lo ca tions, an ex ten si on hose can be
moun ted on the drain screw (2).
•
Open the drain screw (2) and drain the water into the
container.
•
When fuel emerges, close the drain screw.
•

When wa ter is drai ned from the wa ter se pa ra tor, a
small amount of fuel is drai ned as well.
Collect any es ca ped wa ter/fuel mixture and
dispose of it ac cor ding to local environmental
regulations.
