ebbing
Remains Locked When Power Is Applied To Electric Retractors.
If the instruction in section “Removing Wheelchair From Vehicle”
(Page
7
)
has been
followed and does not work, then it is likely that the wheelchair has been positioned too
close to the front retractors and there is insufficient room to move the wheelchair forward
to release the tension in the webbing. If this should occur then:
1) With the power on, pull on the webbing to compress the webbing around the retractor
spindle. This should allow the webbing to be released.
2) If step number 1 does not work – then the retractor can be removed from the track or
its anchorage.
Make sure wheelchair does not move forward. If the retractor is hard mounted,
the webbing may need to be cut to release the wheelchair tie-downs in an
emergency.
Only do that if Electric Retractors have J-Hooks or carabiners.
If it has loops, simply press the button on the buckle to disconnect the webbing
from the wheelchair or mobility device. Continue with the unloading of the
wheelchair as trained.
NOTE: If webbing is cut, c
all AMF-Bruns to
replace the Electric Retractors
(which is required) and
order a belt cutter
(
Part #10020724
0) should you need to
cut the webbing again.
To prevent this issue from re-occurring, it is important to position the
wheelchair correctly into the restraint area
.
See
the warning under the
“Loading
Wheelchair Into Vehicle"
(Page

)
.
Ensure that there is always 8” / 102 mm or more between the front of the
wheelchair and the Electric Retractors. This will enable the wheelchair to be
moved forward to release the tension on the Electric Retractors.
1)
Occasionally the webbing may not fully retract. If that happens then the webbing should
be fully unwound or pulled out and allowed to fully retract immediately
. E
nsure the
retractor is locked (no power) and pull the end of the webbing to compress onto the reel.
Allow the remaining webbing to retract.
2)
The webbing should now release from the retractors when the power is switched
ON.
Excess Webbing Remains Outside Electric Retractor When Power Is Off.
