VCR PLAYBACK

In playback operation, the SuperQuad is used with a Video  Cassette
Recorder and one or two monitors. The video input from a VCR Quad
recording is first displayed on the monitor connected to the CALL
output. This monitor can also display any selected quadrant of the
VCR recording expanded to full screen The monitor connected to the
QUAD output always displays the selected quadrant expanded to full
screen.

To EXPAND a VCR Quad Recording for review:

Note:  it is important that you start the VCR and play the recording

before pushing the EXPAND button on the SuperQuad.

1.  Start the VCR and play the recording.

The Call Monitor displays the VCR recording.

The Quad Monitor always displays a quadrant of the
VCR recording expanded to full screen.

2.  Push the SuperQuad EXPAND button to put the SuperQuad

in VCR Playback mode. The pushbutton will illuminate.

3.  The SELECT buttons, 1-5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8, will, when pressed
momentarily select the corresponding quadrants of the VCR
recording expanded to full screen for display.

4.  The QUAD A/B button will select the full-screen VCR cording or
the expanded quadrant on the Call Monitor, leaving the selected
expanded quadrant on the Quad Monitor

5. P

ush the EXPAND pushbutton momentarily to EXIT the

VCR Playback Mode.

To LOOP the VCR output directly:

Push the SuperQuad LOOP button to put the unit in Loop-thru mode.
The EXPAND input from the VCR is displayed on the QUAD output.
This Loop-thru capability provides the user with the ability to view the
output from the VCR directly on the Quad monitor for ease of VCR
setup.

Note:

It the QUAD output is connected to the VCR input, using the

LOOP feature from the VCR output may cause video instability
with some VCR's. If Loop-thru operation causes problems with the
VCR output, connect the VCR input to the CALL output.

SETUP PROGRAMMING

The default SuperQuad sequence rate is set at one second and alarm
clearance is set for DELAY, with alarm contacts normally open. These
factory-set parameters and other features may be changed using a
Setup Mode with on-screen selection menus displayed on the CALL
Monitor output.

To enter the Setup Mode:

1. Exit EXPAND if enabled. The Setup Mode cannot be

started when in the VCR Playback mode.

2. Press and hold the RUN pushbutton until the PASSWORD menu

(if password is enabled) or the SECURITY OPTIONS menu is
displayed.

Note: A monitor must be connected to the CALL output, and a video
input connected to input 1 to obtain the on-screen Setup menus.

Those front panel SELECT and FUNCTION pushbuttons

which are illuminated during Setup Mode correspond to

the "legend" displayed along the bottom of each menu

screen, i.e., left, up, down, right, plus, minus, and NEXT.

These are illustrated below.

Figure 14 - Front Panel Legend

During Setup Mode, the on-screen menus are displayed in a fixed
sequence, as indicated in the following pages. The NEXT (ALARMS)
button is used to advance to each menu in the sequence. To exit the
Setup Mode at any time, either step through the menus with the NEXT
(ALARMS) button, or press and hold the NEXT button for two
seconds.
