Intended use
Centrofix is an intraoral centric registration sys-
tem for determining jaw relation and vertical dis-
tance using the supporting tracer method.
4.2
Product Description
Centrofix consists of a tracing tablet, tracer
mounting and tracing ball made of stainless steel,
as well as an alignment clamp made of anodised
aluminium.
The tracing tablet and tracer mounting are fixed in
the so-called functional tray. This is fabricated in
the dental laboratory. The same material is used
for the fixation as for the fabrication of the indi-
vidual tray.
Centrofix is applied intraorally when installed. The
tracing ball is used to adjust the vertical distance
from the upper jaw to the lower jaw.
The tracing ball is also used to write the so-called
arrow angle to determine the centric position. The
tracing ball is aligned at the tip of the arrow angle
and fixed with the alignment clamp. The upper and
lower jaw impressions are connected via the fixa-
tion of the tracing ball in the alignment clamp, and
are removed from the mouth. When mounting in
the articulator, the Centrofix connects the upper
and lower jaw models. This makes it possible to
assign the models in the articulator analogously
to the registered/encoded assignment of upper
jaw to lower jaw on the patient.
The determination of the jaw relation by means of
the supporting-tracer registration is carried out
directly on the functional trays without the fabri-
cation of the wax-bite template. This procedure
supersedes one treatment session, allows for
more safety in the definition of the jaw relation
and increases the precision of the model mount-
ing. At the same time, jaw-related values can be
entered into the articulator during the model
transfer.
The weak point so far in intra-oral bite registration
was within the lengthy and complicated coding
with plaster or autopolymerizate. With the Centro-
fix-system's quick lock, this disadvantage is elimi-
nated. At the same time, the system offers a
number of additional advantages:
_
The tracing ball slides without resistance or
jams.
_
It can be grasped with thumb and index finger,
so that finding the vertical dimension is possible
without removing the tablet.
_
The supporting tracer can be screwed at the
sought height via the ball, with the patient's
mouth opened only slightly.
_
The patient can better compare the changing
positions. This makes the registration phase
easier.
_
The notch at the tracing ball is for marking the
position when fixing.
The mechanical lock of the jaw relation without
plaster or synthetics is an Invaluable advantage in
time saving. In addition, in case of uncertainties,
readjustment and then fixing is possible at any
time by means of the mechanical screw connec-
tion. Therefore, Centrofix pays off by savings in
time and material, particularly however by the
patient-friendly handling, increased and secure
information, and thus higher accuracy and func-
tion.
