Kit Instructions
Procedure
Caution
To avoid property damage, protect soft vinyl or other
flooring with cardboard, rugs, or other protective
material.
1. Remove screw caps on sides of doors by placing
screwdriver covered with masking tape in notched
area then lifting up.
2. Remove screw caps on top and bottom doors by
sliding back.
3. Remove door handles and metal plates by removing
screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
4. Remove plugs from top, sides, and bottom of doors
by placing screwdriver covered with masking tape
underneath plugs and lifting up.
5. Tape doors shut with masking tape.
6. Remove top hinge cover by lifting back and sliding
forward. Remove top hinge by removing screws with
a hex nut driver. Save spacer(s). Some refrigerators
may not have spacer(s).
7. Remove tape from freezer door. Remove freezer
door by lifting while opening. This will free freezer
door from center hinge pin. Place door on a soft, flat
surface.
8. Lift door closure off center hinge pin. Remove center
hinge pin with a hex nut driver. Save spacer ring(s).
Some refrigerators may not have spacer ring(s).
9. Remove tape from refrigerator door. Remove
refrigerator door by lifting while opening. This will
free refrigerator door from bottom hinge pin. Place
door on a soft, flat surface.
10. Confirm doors are clean and dry.
11. Remove doors stops from bottom of doors by
removing screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove
screws on opposite side of door with a Phillips
screwdriver.
12. Do not put adhesive on back of panels. Place panels
and trim on doors to confirm panels and trim fit
properly. Remove trim and panels.
Refrigerator Door
13. Apply wood glue or equivalent adhesive to back of
decorator door panel. Place panel on door.
14. Place bottom trim on door. Permanent, double-sided
tape is used to attach trim. Before removing paper
backing, check placement of trim on door. Trim may
be damaged if adjustment or removal is attempted
after installation. Remove paper backing from
bottom trim and press trim firmly to bottom of door.
15. Place door stop on door bottom. Insert and tighten
screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Insert and tighten
screws on opposite side of door with a Phillips
screwdriver.
16. Place side and top trim on door.
17. Replace handle by placing handle then metal plate
on door. Insert and tighten screws with a Phillips
screwdriver. Confirm screws are flush with metal
plate.
18. Replace screw caps on top and bottom of door by
sliding caps over metal plates.
19. Replace screw caps on sides of door by snapping
on.
20. Rehang door by placing door on bottom hinge pin.
21. Place center hinge pin and spacer ring(s) on center
hinge bracket. Pin must fit through bracket and into
refrigerator door socket. Tighten center hinge pin
with a hex nut driver. Place door closure on center
hinge pin.
22. Open door 180° then close door to confirm panel
and trim fit properly.
Freezer Door
23. Repeat steps 13-18. Permanent, double-sided tape
is used to attach top freezer door trim. Before
removing paper backing, check placement of trim on
door. Trim may be damaged if adjustment or removal
is attempted after installation. Remove paper
backing from top trim and press trim firmly to top of
door.
24. Rehang door by placing door on center hinge pin.
Tape door shut with masking tape.
25. Place top hinge and spacer(s) on refrigerator. Install
additional spacer(s) supplied with kit under hinge if
necessary. (DT18 kits include longer screws.)
Handle side of door should be approximately 1/8
inch (3 millimeters) higher than hinge side of door.
Door lowers when loaded with food. Insert and
tighten screws with a hex nut driver. Replace top
hinge cover by snapping on. Remove tape on freezer
door.
26. Open door 180° then close door to confirm panel
and trim fit properly.
