Bolognese Meat Sauce
Servings: 4 to 6
Ingreedients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 carrot, peeled, finely chopped
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
1 tablespoon finely chopped Italian parsley
1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 cup whole milk
1 can (28-ounces) crushed tomatoes
Salt and black pepper to taste
• Add oil and butter to the cooking pot. Select the
Brown/Sauté
setting. Set temperature to 320F. Set cooking
time to 30 minutes. Press Start/Stop button. When oil is hot and butter is melted, add the onions, garlic, carrot,
celery and parsley. Cook 7-8 minutes or until the vegetables are soft. Add the ground meat. Cook 8 minutes, or
until meat is no longer pink, breaking up with a spoon. Add nutmeg and season mixture with salt and pepper to
taste. Add milk and cook until approximately half of the liquid is absorbed, stirring frequently. Add the crushed
tomatoes. Stir well. Press Start/Stop button.
• Cover pot with the lid. Select the the
Slow Cook
function

settings. Set cooking time for 6 hours. Press Start/
Stop button. Do not remove lid while slow cooking.
• When done cooking, press Start/Stop button and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with:
1 pound of your favorite pasta, cooked al dente. Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
