Mixed Gas Outlet Installation for VAPORAIRE M-Series
SURGE/ACCUMULATOR TANK REQUIREMENTS FOR VAPORAIRE M-SERIES MIXERS
1. VAPORAIRE mixers come complete with a surge/accumulator tank.
VAPORAIRE M-Series mixers require a surge/accumulator tank (by others)
for proper operation. Follow the directions below for proper sizing and
installation of a surge/accumulator tank for VAPORAIRE M-Series mixers.
2. The tank must have a relief valve, drain, pressure gauge, inlet connection,
outlet connection, pressure sensing port and gas sampling port.
3. Connect the mixed gas outlet of the unit to the surge/accumulator opening.
The tank inlet connection & interconnecting spool must be the same
diameter as the mixed gas outlet and no longer than ten feet.
SURGE/ACCUMULATOR TANK SIZING FORMULA
For a minimum venturi cycle time of one second and an operating pressure band
of 1 PSIG:
Surge/accumulator Tank Volume (Ft3) = 3.0 X venturi capacity MMBtu/Hr.)
EXAMPLE:
V14.0-8
Minimum cycle time = 1 second
Operating pressure band = 1 PSIG
Surge/accumulator volume (Ft3) = 3.0 x 14.0 = 42 Ft3
NOTE
The minimum recommended cycle time is one second. The longer
the cycle time the better. In this example, if the cycle time is
increased to two seconds, the surge/accumulator size would be 84
FT3.
NOTE
Minimum surge/accumulator tank size on any system is 240 gallons
(32 ft3).
