1. DESCRIPTION
1.1. The SMC2000C01
The SMC2000C01 is an Ethernet switch comprised of two electrical and one optical port
designed for use as an Ethernet medium converter.
The electrical ports can operate at 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s and 1Gbit/s. The optical port
can operate a 1Gbit/s and 2.5Gbit/s.
The electrical ports can automatically negotiate their datarates as well as operation in
full duplex or half duplex modes (FD/HD). The operating mode and datarates can also be
user-selected. The optical port must be configured according to the capabilities of the
SFP modules installed.
The SMC2000C01 is a TL2000 terminal line module and can be housed in a two rack unit
(2 RU) UR2000 mounting frame.
It is possible to monitor the SMC2000C01 status remotely using a communications
controller module installed in the same mounting frame. In addition, certain controller
modules provide SNMP management and the ability to record events in a file including
date and time information for further analysis.
1.2. Features
• A Gigabit Ethernet medium converter module.
• Includes:
- Two electrical ports using RJ45 connectors at 10/100/1000Mbit/s.
- One receptacle into which an SFP module can be installed that operates at
1000/2500Mbit/s.
• The optical cage can accept 1000Base-LX, 1000Base-SX and 1000Base-CX SFP modules
from any manufacturer that complies with the SFP-MSA standard.
• Module control and supervision can be done remotely when the mounting frame is
equipped with a communications controller module.
• Low power.
