GB 4
1. Using a screwdriver, run the adjustment screw (2/1)
COUNTERCLOCKWISE until the tang (2/2) (project-
ing prong) is to the end of its travel toward the clutch
drum and sprocket.
1. Place the slotted end of the guide bar over the 2 bar
bolts (3/1). Position the bar so that the adjustment
tang fits into the lower hole (2/2) on the guide bar
(3/2).
3.2 Saw
Chain
Assembly
Before all works on the guide bar and the saw
chain:
−
stop the engine,
−
unplug the sparking plug connector,
−
put protective gloves on.
Watch the saw chain run direction.
Cut edges of the saw teeth on the top side of
the guide bar lead to the front to the reversible
star (the end of the bar).
1. Slip the chain around the sprocket (5/1) (behind the
clutch) (5/3) and into the groove on the guide bar.
2. Guide the saw chain around the reversible star con-
currently pull the saw chain slightly in the direction
of the arrow.
3. Guide the chain over the chain catcher (5/2). The
saw chain may droop slightly on the lower part of
the bar.
4. Tighten the chain tension screw (2/1) until the saw
chain edges the lower part of the guide bar. Screw
to the right.
When tightening the screw for chain tension, be
careful not to allow the tension hook (2/2) slip
out of the hole in the guide bar.
5. Install the muffler shield. Do not tighten the screws
(1/3) and nuts (1/2) too firmly.
3.3
Saw Chain Tension Adjustment
1. To make sure, rotate the saw chain by hand so that
the chain fits the sprocket and the guide bar.
2. Lift up the guide bar at the reversible star and turn
adjustment screw CLOCKWISE until the saw chain
edges the lower part of the bar.
3. After making adjustment, tighten the bar retaining
nuts (1/2) properly.
The saw chain has proper tension when it can be lifted
for ca 3 – 4 mm above the middle of the guide bar and
when it can be pulled around by gloved hand.
3.4
Chain Extension Control
Control the chain extension often because new saw
chains lengthen during the usage.
In the
cold state,
the saw chain must adhere to lower
side of the guide bar, but it must be able to be pulled by
gloved hand.
Under the
operating temperature
the saw chain length-
ens and is slack.
Parts of the saw chain must not rise from the
notch on the lower side of the guide bar –saw
chain could jump out. Tighten the saw chain
more.
Guide bar: If you want to avoid one-sided wear of the
guide bar, turn it for every chain change.
