Advanced Troubleshooting
A. High Discharge Pressure
Possible Causes
Recommended Action
Dirty condenser or filter
Clean coil; clean or replace filter
Condenser air path restricted
Check and remove obstruction
Refrigerant overcharge
Remove excess refrigerant slowly. Normal sub-
cooling is 10 degF
Condenser fan motor not running or blade
damaged
Check and replace defective parts. See wiring
schematic and parts list
Condenser air Inlet temperature too high
Ensure condenser air outlet space in
adequately vented
B. Low Discharge Pressure
Possible Causes
Recommended Action
Refrigerant shortage
Repair leak and re-charge
Damaged compressor discharge valves
Check and
replace compressor
Restricted expansion valve
Check and replace
Air too cold entering condenser
Preheat condenser air, Reduce condenser
airflow
volume
Frost on evaporator co
il
May need to adjust factory setting of HGBV.
Check evaporator airflow volume
C. Excessive Noise or Vibration
Possible Causes
Recommended Action
Refrigerant overcharge
Check and recharge
Fan blade Imbalance
Check and replace
Broken compressor part
s
Check compressor for knocking
and replace if
required
Expansion valve stuck open
Check and replace valve
Excessively low suction line temp
Check and adjust superheat. Nominal superheat 10
degrees
Loose component
Check system components for tightness or
interference.
Adjust as required
