N9342C/43C/44C User’s Guide

Check the basics

This section includes information on how to check
for a problem with your Agilent spectrum analyzer,
and how to return it for service.

If you experience a problem or would like
additional information about your analyzer, Agilent
Technologies’ worldwide organization is ready to
provide the support you need.

•

Before calling Agilent Technologies, or returning
an analyzer for service, perform the quick checks
listed below. This check may eliminate the prob-
lem.

•

Is there power at the receptacle?

•

Is the analyzer turned on?

•

If other equipment, cables, and connectors are
being used with your spectrum analyzer, make
sure they are connected properly and operating
correctly.

•

Review the measurement procedures being per-
formed when the problem first appeared. Make
sure all of the settings are correct.

•

If the analyzer is not functioning as expected,
return the analyzer to a known state by pressing

Preset (Default Preset Type)

.

•

Is the measurement being performed, and the
results that are expected, within the specifica-
tions and capabilities of the analyzer? Refer to
the

Technical Overview

for your analyzer.

•

Is the analyzer displaying an error message? If
so, refer to

“Error Messages"
