Measuring Polarization Dependent Loss

This section covers the use of the applications “Pol. Depend. Loss”
and “PDL / Insert. Loss”. You can measure how the optical loss of
passive components is affected by different states of polarization.

PDL Measurement Setup

The same setup can be
used to measure the
Insertion Loss.

Connect the optical output to the input of the device under test
(DUT).

Connect the optical head to the output of the DUT.
