INTRODUCTION
This c hapter pro vides instructions for troublesho oting and repairing the 87511A and 87511B
S-parameter test sets. It includes simplied blo c k diagrams.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The in ten t of this c hapter is to enable tec hnicians to isolate problems to the assem bly lev el,
iden tify the defectiv e assem bly , and to order the replacemen t part. The blo c k diagram, as
sho wn in Figure 7-1 , may b e used to aid in troublesho oting. Recommended test equipmen t is
listed in T able 4-1.
Troubleshooting Procedures
1. Chec k for prop er v oltages on the A1 logic assem bly on the test sets.
a. A1TP3: +22 V
b. A1TP5: +5 V
The test set receiv es +22 Vdc from the 8751A via the in terconnect cable. Th us If this
c hec k F AILED, c hec k the in terconnect cable's connection and function.
2. Chec k that the POR T 1 LED is lit on the test sets's fron t panel after turning on the 8751A
with the test sets.
If the LED is NOT lit, replace the A1 logic b oard.
3. P erform the directivit y p erformance tests in the Chapter 4. P erformance T ests. If POR T
1's directivit y test failed, replace the POR T 1's directional bridge. If POR T 2's directivit y
test failed, replace POR T 2's directional bridge.
