P erformance T ests
INTRODUCTION
This c hapter pro vides the test pro cedures used to v erify that the 87511A/B's sp ecications
listed in this man ual are met. All tests can b e p erformed without access to the in terior of
the instrumen t. The p erformance tests can also b e used to p erform incoming insp ection,
and to v erify that the 87511A/B meets p erformance sp ecications after troublesho oting or
adjustmen t. If the p erformance tests indicate that the 87511A/B is NOT op erating within the
sp ecied limits, c hec k y our test setup, and then pro ceed to Adjustmen ts or T roublesho oting in
the 87511A/B service man ual, if necessary .
Note
P erform all p erformance tests in an ambien t temp erature of 23 C 6 5 C.
PERF ORMANCE TEST RECORD
Record the p erformance test results in the T est Record at the end of this c hapter (Photo cop y
the T est Record and use the photo cop y). The T est Record lists all test sp ecications and
their acceptable limits. T est results recorded during incoming insp ection can b e used for
comparison purp oses during p erio dic maintenance, troublesho oting, and after repair or
adjustmen t.
Note
The test limits indicated for eac h test do not take in to accoun t the
measuremen t error of the test equipmen t used. Be sure to take the test
equipmen t's measuremen t error in to accoun t when determining whether or not
the 87511A/B meets sp ecications.
CALIBRA TION CYCLE
The 87511A/B requires p erio dic p erformance v erication. The frequency of p erformance
v erication dep ends on the op erating and en vironmen tal conditions under whic h the
87511A/B is used. V erify the 87511A/B's p erformance at least once a y ear, using the
p erformance tests describ ed in this c hapter.
