8. On the p o w er meter, set the p o w er sensor calibration factor for the frequency to b e
measured.
9. Note the dierence b et w een the p o w er meter reading and the p o w er v alue set on the
syn thesizer. W rite this v alue do wn on a separate piece of pap er.

F or p o w er lev els of 10 dBm and ab o v e, measure the p o w er at 10 dBm, then set
the attenuator to the 10 dB p osition (use a 10 dB attenuator for syn thesizers
without a step attenuator.) Record the dierence b et w een the measuremen ts:
(approximately 10 dB). Then, with the attenuator still set to
10 dB, complete the remaining measuremen ts. Eac h of these measuremen ts
should b e oset b y the dierence in dB that y ou measured.
10. On the syn thesizer, use the up 4 * 5 k ey to incremen t the p o w er lev el 1 dB.
11. Repeat steps 8 through 10, to the maximum sp ecied p o w er lev el of y our syn thesizer.
Record the w orst case measured dierence (greatest duration) for this frequency in
T able 2-8 for p o w er lev els 10 dBm and, if y our syn thesizer is capable, for p o w er lev els >
10 dBm.
12. On the syn thesizer, set the p o w er lev el to 010 dBm.
13. Repeat steps 8through 11 for the remaining frequencies in T able 2-8 not to exc e e d the
maximum sp ecied frequency of y our syn thesizer. Remem b er to delete the 10 dB of
attenuation for p o w er lev els b elow 0 dBm.
14. Record the w orst case measured v alues for eac h frequency range and p o w er range on the
test record.
