General Information

Before You Start

Verify that all the conditions specified in the

5973N and 5973

inert MSD Site Preparation Guide

have been met:

•

Adequate space is available for the MSD system

•

Suitable supporting bench

•

Adequate electrical power is available at the correct voltages
and frequencies

•

Environmental control systems are adequate

•

Adequate preparations for safe exhaust venting

•

Supplies necessary for instrument operation are available,
including solvents, helium carrier gas, and methane reagent
gas (for CI MSDs)

•

Computer supplies, including diskettes and printer paper

•

Conveniently located telephone

Lifting the GC and MSD will require the assistance of another
person to prevent injury.

N O T E

Installation and verification will only be performed using helium carrier
gas.
