Installation
Connecting the Laser Head Cables
Agilent 10881A/B/C/D/E/F and N1251B Laser Head Cable
The Agilent 10881A/B/C/D/E/F and N1251B laser head cables connect any
of the laser heads described in this manual to the any of the axis boards
listed in
Table 4 on page 8 except for the Agilent 10895A VME axis board.
The laser head cables are Y- shaped and have three connectors, all
different, as shown in figures
2 through 4 .
To Connect the Agilent 10881A/B/C/D/E/F or N1251B Laser Head
Cable

Connect the largest connector on the laser head cable to the mating
connector on the rear panel of the laser head.
This 18- pin connector is keyed to fit together only one way. The Agilent
logo will be on the top of the connector boot when the connection is
correctly made. The cable connector has a locking ring, which requires
a clockwise

- turn to secure the cable to the mating connector. See
Table 6 on page 24 for pin- outs of this connector.

Plug the smallest connector on the laser head cable into the Reference
connector on the axis board.
This 4- pin LEMO connector is also keyed to fit together only one way.
The dot on the cable connector shell points to the left on ISA axis
boards and to the right for VME and PCI boards. When aligned, push
the connector in.

Plug the remaining 5- pin DIN connector into the mating connector on
the Agilent 10884B power supply.
This connector is keyed to fit together only one way. Align the tabs and
push the connectors together.

If you are using the Agilent 10881A/B/C or N1251B cable, go to
step 5.
OR
If you are using the Agilent 10881D/E/F Cable, skip to step 6.
NOTE
Instructions for connecting the Agilent E1847A, E1848A, and E1848B
power-only laser head cables to the laser head are not provided in this
manual. See the
