Lubricating rings and tight fit
Do not fit the rings with just a hammer. Use a suit-
able fitting tool together with a hammer or, even
better, a press, if possible.
When using a press, make sure that the pressure is
exerted in the same direction as the drilled hole. If
there is an oiling hole in the lubricating ring, it must
line up with the hole in the adjoining part.
Where one part fits tightly inside another, lubricate
both surfaces. Tapered parts must be fitted dry.
Check the tapered surfaces for impurities and burrs
before fitting. They must be completely dry.
Fitting bolts in non-through holes
Bolts of the right length must be used. If the bolt is
too long, it will hit the bottom before the bolt head
is in contact with the part it is to secure. This will
ruin the threads.
If the bolt is too short, it may not have enough
thread engaged to hold the part in place and so will
not work effectively.
