2.7 Safe handling
If the pressure gauge is not installed and operated in compliance with these
operating instructions and with the conditions specified in the applicable
standards and directives, it may burst. In such a case, parts can be ejected
under high pressure and medium can escape.
Vibration, excessive heat at soft solder connections, for example, after a fire,
leaks at connections at the pressure gauge and/or the measuring line,
bursting of the pressure gauge, incorrect installation, fatigue of material and
other causes may provoke medium to escape. Escaping medium can cause
serious hazards, in particular in the case of flammable substances, toxic sub-
stances and other hazardous substances.
WARNING
UNSUITABLE PRESSURE GAUGES
• Only use pressure gauges which are suitable for the actual operating condi-
tions (for example, measuring range, ambient conditions, medium, materials,
over-pressure safety).
• Verify that the selection criteria as per EN 837-2 as well as all directives,
standards and safety regulations pertaining to the application are adhered to.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or equip-
ment damage.
WARNING
EJECTED PARTS AND ESCAPING MEDIUM
• Install and operate the product in compliance with the application data spe-
cified in these operating instructions and in the applicable directives, stan-
dards and safety regulations.
• Take all necessary measures to protect against hazards, based on the
results of your risk assessment, for example, install a protective cover.
• Use a safety pressure gauge if your risk assessment shows that ejected
parts and escaping medium pose an unacceptable hazard.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or equip-
ment damage.
