2 Safety
2.1 Intended use
The piston type anti-siphon valve KAV may only be used as safety
equipment in oil fired systems as per DIN 4755 where a section of
the oil-carrying pipe is below the maximum tank level. In the case of
a leak in the oil-carrying pipe, the piston type anti-siphon valve KAV
keeps the tank from being drained by the siphon effect.
The piston type anti-siphon valve KAV may be used in rooms and in
manholes of underground tanks with an ambient temperature and a
temperature of the liquid from -25 °C to +40 °C to pass fuel oil at a
volume flow of up to 220 l/h. The maximum operating pressure may
be 6 bar. The maximum safe height is adjustable from 1 to 4 m.
The piston type anti-siphon valve KAV may only be used for:

Fuel oil EL as per DIN 51603-1
with 0-100 % fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) as per EN 14213

Diesel fuel as per EN 590
with 0-100 % fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) as per EN 14214
In dual-line mode, the maximum FAME percentage is 20 %.
Any use other than the application explicitly permitted in this instruc-
tion manual is not permitted.
2.2 Predictable incorrect application
The piston type anti-siphon valve KAV must not be used in hazard-
ous areas, zones 0 and 1.
2.3 Safe handling
This product represents state-of-the-art technology and is made ac-
cording to the pertinent safety regulations. Each product is subjected
to a function and safety test prior to shipping.

Operate the product only when it is in perfect condition. Always
observe the operating instructions, all pertinent local and na-
tional directives and guidelines as well as the applicable safety
regulations and directives concerning the prevention of acci-
dents.
