Dial Line/Line Passwords (Remote Access)

RDL Password (Remote Download)

The ISU 512e has the ability to download the contents of Flash
Memory (software) to another ISU 512e over a dial-up con-
nection. By using a smart dial string with a #7 suffix, the orig-
inating ISU 512e transfers its Flash Memory contents to the
remote unit. This allows software updates using only the
ISDN connection.

The ISU 512e can be protected from illegal software loads by
using the password protection built into the remote protocol.
The smart dial string format for this type of call is as follows:

<number>#7#<password>

For example, the dial string 9224323#7#1234 would place a re-
mote download call to the remote unit and send the 1234
string as the RDL password. If the remote unit's RDL pass-
word is 1234, the request is accepted and the transfer is com-
pleted. If the password does not match, the call is terminated
by the remote unit. The remote unit places

in

the Status buffer.

The password may be up to six alphanumeric characters in
length. If no RDL password is entered, the unit is unprotected
and all attempts to update are accepted.

SPV Password (Remote Supervision)

The ISU 512e has the ability to be remotely accessed and con-
figured from another ISU 512e. The originating ISU 512e can
remotely access another ISU 512e using a smart dial string
with a #6 suffix.

The second generation ISU 512 also contains the

OWNLOAD

feature. Do not download software from an

ISU 512 to an ISU 512e or vice versa. The unit will not
function properly.
