Disk Format Utility
This utility allows you to low-level format your SCSI disk and/or
verify disk media for defects.
Note
When migrating hard disk drives and/or removable media drives
from other manufacturers host adapters, the
disk format
utility
should be run to low-level format your drive.
Disk Format
Your fixed disk media must be low-level formatted before you can
use your operating system’s partitioning and file perparation
commands, such as MS-DOS
fdisk
and
format
.
Most SCSI disk devices are pre-formatted, and do not need
re-formatting. The Adaptec low-level formatting utility is
compatible with the vast majority of today’s SCSI disk drives.
Caution
All data on the drive will be lost when performing a low-level for-
mat. Be sure to back up your data before performing this operation.
