Starting and closing the camera app
To start the camera app:
1. In the App screen, tap
Camera
.
2. Make sure that the protective lens cover is clean; wipe it with a microfiber cloth before taking
pictures.
To close the camera app, press the Back
or the Home
button.
Displaying the camera controls
To access the camera controls, tap the Settings
on the screen. See
Camera setting options,
page 55
for more information.
Using the camera in Still mode
To take a photo:
1. Start the camera, and make sure Still mode is selected.
2. Use the viewfinder to frame the photo you want to capture, and adjust any other settings if
required (see
Camera setting options, page 55
). The preview image changes as you change the
settings.
3. To capture the photo, tap the blue button on the screen, or tap and hold the blue button to
focus; when the photo is in focus, the focus indicators on the screen turn green. The camera
takes the photo when you lift your finger off the button.
The photo you just took is displayed for a moment, and then is displayed as a thumbnail,
which you can tap to open in the Gallery. Photos are stored as .jpg files.
To cancel taking the photo, slide your finger off the blue button and then lift your finger off the
screen.
To view photos in the Gallery, tap a thumbnail in the camera application to open the Gallery, or in
the App screen, tap
Gallery

Using the camera in Video mode
1. Start the camera, and make sure Video mode is selected.
2. Adjust any other settings if required (see
Camera setting options, page 55
.)
