3.13.1 VPD EEPROM (Vital Product Data) 

This  8-kbit  serial  EEPROM  is  used  to  store  a  set  of  board  specific  parameters.  These  parameters 
provides the board configuration information (board revision, Ethernet addresses, SDRAM configuration, 
FLASH memory configuration, etc).

The Option fields may have fixed or variable length. Each option begins with a tag octet, with a user-value 
defined between 0x80 to 0xfe (all other are reserved). The fixed-length type options, which do not include 
data,  consist  of  only  a  tag  octet. Only  options  0x00  and  0xff  are fixed-length  type.  All  other  options  are 
variable-length  type  with  a  length  octet  following  the  tag  octet.  The  value  of  the  length  octet  does  not 
include  the  two  octets  specifying  the  tag  and  length.  The  length  octet  is  followed  by  "length"  octets  of 
data. In the case of some variable-length options the length field is a constant but must still be specified.
