looped recording mode can be enabled which will continuously store the last several
minutes of data inside the logger. The length of recording time depends on the
sample rate selected. When recording Generation 7+ ECM data, the logger will
continuously retain over 20 minutes of recorded data.
When data is stored in the Engine Analyzer, the main screen of the DataMap
software will show a Number of Runs of at least 1, and the actual number of data
samples contained in the logger memory. To retrieve the data from the logger,
press the READ DATA button on the screen. You will then be prompted to enter a
custom file name for the data file(s) to be created from the logged data. If multiple
Runs are present in the logger, the DataMap software can be configured to
automatically create different files for each run. Filenames are created based on the
filename that was entered and the current time and date settings of your computer
in the format of [NAME]_mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. If multiple runs are present, -
RUN1, -RUN2… etc are appended to the file names as each data run is read from the
logger to create filename(s) of the format [NAME]_mmddyyyy_hhmmss-RUN1.log.
Note that on Engine Analyzer models with Firmware Versions LESS THAN
2.0.0, the contents of the Data Logger will be lost if power is removed from
the Engine Analyzer before the data is read from it. It may be a good idea
to install a separate power switch for the Engine Analyzer that can
temporarily keep power applied to the module after the ignition has been
switched off.
