Installation instructions for the OPEN SURF System and OPEN SURF System 2 above-water automatic slatted safety cover - 18/22

-

If the voltage measured is greater than 24 V, check

the connections and the condition of the wires.

-

If  there  is  no  voltage  or  a  very  low  voltage

(< 24 V), this indicates a defect on the solar panel.

This can be the result of a faulty connection, or a

defective component. The panel must be returned

to AS POOL for analysis.

7.2.2

Fig. 32

-

Disconnect the batteries for the test. The voltage

of each one should be 12 V.

-

Reconnect the batteries, disconnect the green and

black wires from the regulator, there should be a

24 V DC voltage between these wires.

-

If the voltage is less than 22 V, the voltage is not

sufficient to correctly operate the motor, check all

the connections, the condition of the wires and

the contacts on the rearm button.

-

If there is no voltage or a very low voltage (< 24 V),

this indicates that the batteries are not charged.

This can be the result of a faulty connection, an

incorrect positioning of the panel or a defective

component.

7.2.3

Measurement  of  the  voltage  output  from  the

regulator

If items 7.2.1 and 7.2.2 have been checked and

the voltages are correct, and if your voltage on

the output from the regulator is less than 24 V,

you must re-initialise the regulator before the

following steps:

- Disconnect the "-" wire from the solar panel,

- Disconnect the "-" wire from the batteries,

- Wait for the regulator indicators the indicators

to go out.
Then reconnect the wires in the same order:

solar panel "-" and then battery "-".

-

Without disconnecting the blue and red wires

from  the  regulator,  measure  the  DC  voltage

between these wires. It should be 24 V DC. This

voltage should be found between the terminals

of screw terminals 3 and 4 (check the wires and

connections if this is not the case).

-

If there is no voltage here, but there is output

voltage from the batteries, keep the forcing button

pressed down and turn the slatted cover control

key.

-

If  the  cover  reacts  to  turning  of  the  key,  this

indicates  a  regulator  fault.  This  can  be  the

result of a power surge due to a thunder storm,

a faulty connection, or a defective component.

The regulator must be returned to AS POOL for

analysis.

-

Rectifier test: 24 V DC (Direct Current) on the

square rectifier: the "+" terminal is perpendicular

to  the  other  3  terminals.  The  "-"  terminal  is

diagonally opposite.

-

Thermal  circuit  breaker  test:  24  V  DC  on  the

terminals marked "+" and "-" at the connecting

cable connections.

-

If a voltage is not present or of a different value,

check  again  making  sure  that  the  multimeter

tips  are  in  contact  with  the  terminals  and  that

your multimeter is calibrated and on the correct

measurement position. A voltage that is absent or

different from the indicated voltage indicates that

the tested component is defective. Replace it or

request its return to AS POOL for analysis.

-

If  the  voltage  is  correct  the  box  is  in  perfect

working order.

7.1.2

Checking  the  power  supply  cable  between  the

electric box and the roller motor

-

Reconnect the cable that supplies the roller in the

electric box and disconnect it from the roller post

at its entry from the screw terminals marked "+"

and "-".

-

Step  by  step,  check  for  the  presence  of  the

indicated voltage on the following terminals:

-

Connecting  cable  test:  24  V  DC  in  the  box  at

the  terminals  marked  "+"  and  "-"  where  the

connecting cable is connected. The 24 V DC on

the terminals for the 2 wires arriving at the post.

If the voltage is below 22 V, this voltage will not be

sufficient for the correct operation of the motor.

-

If voltage is not present or the value is different, it

means that your cable is defective, cut, damaged

or has the wrong resistance, or is located too near

to a cable with a different voltage that disrupts its

operation. Replace the cable. Make a temporary

connection using another cable directly between the

electric box and the motor to carry out new tests.

7.2  For the solar models

CAUTION: It is imperative to orient the solar panels

facing SOUTH, directly exposed to sunlight and away

from any shade

7.2.1

Measure the voltage output from the solar panel

-

Disconnect the green wire from the battery "+".

-

Disconnect the + and - wires from the solar panel

on  the  regulator.  Measure  the  direct  voltage

between  these  two  wires  (a  panel  correctly

positioned  receiving  direct  sunlight  supplies  a

voltage > 24 V and < 50 V).

-

There must be a voltage greater than 24 V DC,

if this is the case, go to step 2.

-

If the voltage is less than 24 V, measure it again

directly between the black and red wires of the

solar panel.
