5.4 Cleaning stainless steel surfaces
Stainless steel surfaces can become dirty
or damaged in daily use. Dirt or damage can
reduce the corrosion resistance or even
cause corrosion, depending on the nature of
the dirt. In addition to reducing the corrosion
resistance of the material, dirt and damage
attack the surface of the stainless steel
surface. Greasy fingerprints, irritating
deposits, scratches and the like give
stainless steel a neglected appearance. To
prevent this, you should clean stainless
steel at regular intervals
Different maintenance approaches are
necessary for brushed, orbital polished and
bead-blasted surfaces.
If heavy soiling or damage is present,
cleaning may change the surface structure
of the stainless steel.
It is also advisable to have this type of
maintenance performed by an expert. Use
the procedure described below to remove
light soiling (greasy fingerprints, light
deposits, etc.).
Polished or brushed stainless steel
Wipe clean with a soft cloth moistened
with ABK InnoVent stainless steel cleaner.
Wipe in the same direction as the polishing
lines on the material.
Spray the surface with stainless steel
cleaner, rub it in, wait a while and then wipe
the surface clean with a dry cloth. The final
step leaves a thin protective layer on the
stainless steel.
Orbital polished stainless steel
Wipe clean with a soft cloth moistened
with ABK InnoVent stainless steel cleaner.
Wipe using a randomly varied circular
motion.
Spray the surface with stainless steel
cleaner, rub it in, wait a while and then wipe
the surface clean with a dry cloth. The last
step leaves a thin protective layer on the
stainless steel
Bead-blasted stainless steel
Wipe clean with a soft cloth moistened
with ABK InnoVent stainless steel cleaner.
Spray the surface with stainless steel
cleaner, rub it in, wait a while and then wipe
the surface clean with a dry cloth. The last
step leaves a thin protective layer on the
stainless steel
