In the ready-to-use state, the welding torch
ABIMIG
®
consists of:
1. Cable assembly with equipment
2. Handle / Handle tube for

Version
3. Torch neck e. g.

with equipment parts and
consumambles
These elements combine together to form a functional unit which produces an
electric welding arc when supplied with the appropriate resources.
For the welding process, a wire electrode is transported through the welding
torch, whereby the arc and the weld-pool are protected by inert gas (MIG) or
active gas (MAG).
The wire electrode or filler wire is fed through the contact tip. The contact tip
transfers the welding current to the wire electrode. The arc is formed between
the wire electrode and the workpiece. The torch neck is liquid-cooled in all ver-
sions, the cable assembly has been designed accordingly.
Standard torch neck
The standard torch necks of the
ABIMIG
®
series are bent at 50°, the
ABIMIG
®
MT
version at 0° and 45° and are fitted with different spare parts
(contact tip, contact tip holder/collet chuck, gas diffusor, gas nozzle).
The torch types ABIMIG
®
452 W and ABIMIG
®
452 DW are mainly fitted with
the same spare parts, the difference is the changeable contact tip holder with
the type ABIMIG
®
452 DW. The gas nozzle is inserted in position.
The torch type ABIMIG
®
535 W has a gas nozzle that is inserted and held in
position using a threaded adapter.
The ABIMIG
®
645W is larger in design and has appropriately dimensioned
spare parts and a threaded gas nozzle.
The torch necks of this series are fitted with a double-circuit cooling.
Special versions can be offered upon request.
Handle
In the standard version, there is only one button in the ergonomically shaped
handle, different functional modules can be fitted as alternatives. The control
cable necessary for this is assembled open out of the cable support or is
delivered ready for connection if complete details are given when ordering.
Cable assembly
The cable assembly is available in standard lengths of 3, 4 and 5 m.
Fitting the cable assembly
Select the type of wire and the suitable wire guide liner for your application.
– Push the pre-fitted wire guide liner – guide spiral liner or plastic core liner –
from the central plug through to the torch neck with the cable assembly laid
