Derating
The inverter monitors its internal temperature and derates the power output when
necessary to prevent damage to the inverter, protection devices and cabling. If the
temperature of the inverter rises or the operational currents are too high, the inverter
disconnects from the electrical grid and gives the overtemperature fault. When the
internal temperature decreases, the inverter connects to the grid again.
The nominal output power can be achieved in ambient temperatures of up to 45 °C
(113 °F) in the whole MPP operating voltage range. At the minimum MPP voltage
580 V
DC
, the nominal output power can be achieved even at 50 °C (122 °F). In the
ambient temperature range of 45…60 °C (113…140 °F), the output power is derated.
The power derating curves are applicable up to 1,000 m (3280 ft) above sea level. If
the inverter is installed above 1,000 m, the cooling capacity is reduced due to the
thinner air. The inverter temperature management attempts to compensate for the
reduced cooling. The power derating can start at temperatures lower than those
mentioned above.
