INSTALLATION

Turn o ff power and the gas
supply to the water heater.
Remove the four screws from
the top plate of the water heater as
shown in the
fi gure below.

Orient the outdoor vent cap
as shown in Figure 27.

Secure the Outdoor Vent Cap
to the water heater at each
corner with the screws
removed earlier. See Figure 27.

A ach the UIM overlay as
shown in Figure 28.

Remove the front cover and
rotate the printed circuit
board down.

Locate the air inlet plate as
shown in Figure 29. Remove
and keep the 3 screws
securing it to the base of the water
heater. The plate is color coded and it
should be rotated so that the yellow
side of the plate is rotated up. Secure
with the screws removed earlier.

Connect the water heater to
power. See “Electrical
Connec ons” on page 40.
NOTICE: This water heater comes
equipped with a SJWT rated cord
which is weather resistant and rated
for outdoor use. See “Electrical
Connec ons” on page 40.

Accessories
It is recommended that a Cartridge
Freeze Protec on Kit be installed if
the water heater is installed outside
or in uncondi oned areas subject to
freezing temperatures.
A pipe cover is available and a ffi xes
to bo om of heater. It protects
plumbing connec ons to the heater
while improving the appearance of
the installa on.
