Using the impact driver
Trigger switch
Use the forward/reverse switch (3) to select the direction
of rotation, then pull the trigger (2). This trigger switch is an
electronic variable speed control which enables the user to
vary the speed continuously. The speed varies according
to how far the trigger switch is depressed. The further it is
depressed the faster the output Drive will rotate and the
lighter it is depressed, the slower it will rotate.
To stop the driver, release the trigger switch.
Note.
The variable Speed control fitted to this driver is
NOT intended to be used for long periods of time during
the operation of the task being performed. Use the variable
speed to start the screwing tasks, and then fully depress the
trigger once the task has started.
CAUTION.
Extended use of the variable speed under load will
overload and then permanently damage the speed control.
Forward/reverse switch
Note.
You can only change
the direction of rotation of the
driver using the forward/reverse
switch when the trigger is NOT
depressed.
This switch (3) will allow you
to change the direction of the
motor while the trigger switch is
not depressed.
Using forward direction enables screws, nuts and bolts to
be tightened.
Using reverse directions enables the screws, nuts or bolts to
be loosened or removed.
Inserting a driver or nut setter bit into the
impact driver
Slide the chuck sleeve FULLY forward and insert the 6 mm
hex drive bit into the hex hole (chuck) of the adaptor. Fully
insert and then release the chuck sleeve.
Grasp the driver bit and slowly pull the bit out of the chuck
until the sleeve “clicks” into place, retaining the driver bit.
To release a driver bit, slide the chuck sleeve fully forward
and remove the bit from the chuck.
Operating tips
You will extend the life of your bits and do neater work if you
always put the bit in contact with the work before pulling the
trigger. During the operation, hold the tool firmly and exert
light, steady pressure. Too much pressure at low speed will
stall the tool. Too little pressure will allow the driver bit to
disengage from the fastener and damage the fastener head
and driver bit.
Always use a good quality driver bit which matches
the screw head correctly. When using a flat driver bit
ensure a correct fit between the fastener and bit and it is
recommended to use a bit with a sleeved guide.
Driving with variable speed
The technique is to start slowly, increasing the speed as
the screw runs down. Set the screw snugly by slowing to a
stop, or allowing the impacts to set the screw to the desired
torque over a period of impact time. Prior to driving screws,
