Clearing a Jammed Spool

NOTE: Always ensure the engine is turned off

before undertaking this assembly.
The spool & line assembly (35) does not need to

be removed from the lower shaft (15) of the line

trimmer, however, if it is easier, it can be removed

from the lower shaft (15) for this process.
In the case where the spool will not feed out

line when the bump knob (34) is bumped on

the ground at high speed, or the line will not

pull through when the line needs replacing, the

following process should be followed to open the

spool & line assembly (35) to check the lay of the

line on the inner spool.
1. To open the spool & line assembly (35), press

firmly in the centre of the two securing tabs on

each side of the spool assembly (35), one at a

time (Fig AS). When pressed firmly, the spool

cover can be lifted when released. Remove the

top spool cover.

2. Remove the internal spool itself with the

jammed line, fully from the spool housing

(Fig AT).

3. Remove all the existing line from the spool

completely (Fig AU).
