4 Select the appropriate category ( Filter on Input, Filter on Output ) from the
Filter Assignment drop-down menu.
Filtering On The LAN Side : If the firewall filter is attached to the LAN
side and you select Filter on Input , the OfficeConnect Gateway will
perform packet filtering on the packets travelling from the LAN to the
OfficeConnect Gateway. If you select
Filter on Output , the OfficeConnect
Gateway will perform packet filtering on the packets travelling from the
OfficeConnect Gateway to the WAN.
Filtering On the WAN Side : If the firewall filter is attached to the WAN
side and you select Filter on Input , the OfficeConnect Gateway will
perform packet filtering on the packets travelling from the WAN to the
OfficeConnect Gateway. If you select
Filter on Output , the OfficeConnect
Gateway will perform packet filtering on the packets travelling from the
OfficeConnect Gateway to the WAN.
5 Click Apply and then click SaveAll on the menubar of the OfficeConnect
Gateway to permanently save the information.
Firewall Level:
Custom
If you are an Administrator with experience creating packet filters, you
can use the Custom Firewall Level option to create, modify and delete
custom packet filters for your network. The Custom level offers you the
most flexibility for controlling the packet filtering performed by the
firewall of the OfficeConnect Gateway.
